Sleep apnea and unilateral upper and lower extremity allodynia as a result of a large thoracic disc herniation: a case report

Abstract Background Clinically significant disc herniations in the thoracic spine are rare accounting for approximately 1% of all herniations. In patients with spinal cord compression, presenting symptoms typically include ambulatory dysfunction, lower extremity weakness, sensory changes, as well bowl, bladder, or sexual dysfunction. Thoracic can also present radiculopathy including midback pain and radiating wrapping around chest abdomen. The association between herniation compression sleep apnea is not described.
